About AusBiotech

Corporate Profile

AusBiotech is Australia’s industry organisation, working on behalf of members for more than 25 years to provide representation and services to promote the global growth of Australian biotechnology. AusBiotech is a well-connected network of over 3,000 members in the life sciences, including therapeutics, medical technology (devices and diagnostics), food technology and agricultural, environmental and industrial sectors.

AusBiotech is dedicated to the development, growth and prosperity of the Australian biotechnology industry, by providing initiatives to drive sustainability and growth, outreach and access to markets, and representation and support for members nationally and around the world.

AusBiotech has representation in each Australian state providing a national network to support members and promote the commercialisation of Australian bioscience in the national and international marketplaces.

The structure is a not-for-profit limited guarantee company managed by a Board elected by members, under a constitution that is available on request from national office.

Our membership base includes biotechnology companies, ranging from start-ups to mature multinationals, research institutes and universities, specialist service professionals, corporate, institutional, individual and student members from Australia and globally.

In assessing the current needs and issues faced by Australia's core biotechnology companies, AusBiotech's Strategic Business Plan addresses the requirements to build an appropriate environment to enable companies to grow, help them globalise and position Australia as a significant biotechnology industry for increasing international investment and interest.

  • Representation and support.

Mission

“AusBiotech’s mission is to cultivate a supportive environment to enable companies to grow and advance their commercial interests and assist them to become global, thereby positioning Australia’s biotechnology industry as a significant market for attracting international interest and investment.”

AusBiotech will achieve its mission by advancing the interest of members through developing and contributing to policy development and implementation, advocacy, networking, advice, education, support services and international out-reach.

Vision

“AusBiotech’s vision is to be the recognised, respected and acknowledged as the National industry body representing the Australian Biotechnology Industry by successfully fostering the growth and globalisation of companies and the Australian biotechnology industry.”

AusBiotech’s Vision will be achieved by representing members across all sectors of biotechnology whilst being financially sustainable, independent of government funding, and employing staff specialising in key areas of policy development and implementation, advocacy, regulatory affairs, finance, marketing & communications, business development, commercialisation and event management.

Sustainability and Growth of Core Biotech’s

AusBiotech facilitates sustainability and growth of the industry through its critical mass and united all-of-industry approach. AusBiotech communication vehicles provide members with up-to-date information and trends, and offers market profile and positioning in Australia and globally. Members receive savings on a range of membership benefits including discounted advertising rates in the AusBiotech journal and on registration at the AusBiotech annual national conference.

Outreach and Access

Through AusBiotech, members have access and outreach to industry and government networks which builds strong business relationships. AusBiotech members are invited to an extensive state and national events program as-well-as the opportunity to take part in regular international biotechnology missions and be represented at international trade fairs and conferences.

Representation and Support

AusBiotech represents and supports individual biotech companies, special interest groups and the Australian biotechnology industry as a whole. AusBiotech represents its members by providing expertise as industry advocates and committee members on all biotech steering committees; as well as providing industry submissions to policy review panels at both government and corporate levels.
